“The Road Back Home” is based on the extensive travels I have taken throughout country New South Wales, Victoria and finally finding my place in the world in the Dandenong Ranges. It’s an expression of the emotion the landscape evokes, the gratitude for the ancient and endless abundance it gives, and the journey I’ve taken to find my place in it. My artwork has a whimsical and irreverent perspective to convey how I traverse and experience the landscape, and how it unfolds and reveals itself to me.
Inge Marie is an Australian artist/illustrator living in hills of the Dandenong Ranges Victoria.
Inge has been creative all her life with her inspiration coming from the beauty of the Australian landscape. Her goal is always to bring about the feeling and emotion the landscape gives. She is inspired by our unique landscape and the volume of colour in the hills, trees, rocks and works to accentuate or pare back depending on what conveys the emotion. Inge works mainly in acrylics but has also used mixed media such as watercolour, inks, pencil and gouache.
Inge Marie has been a finalist in both the 2024 Lethbridge Prize and the 2024 Doyles Art Award
