This exhibition is a group show of works from an open call to local artists in the ranges.
One of the principal genres (subject types) of Western art – essentially, the subject matter of a ‘Still Life’ painting or sculpture is anything that does not move or is dead.
Apparently the french academy in the 17th century considered ‘Still Life’ as one of the lower forms of art – because there were no living humans in it.
In more modern times, ‘Still Life’ has been used as a way of experimenting with style – cubist, surrealist – whatever you like.
